Some of our regular Mahjong players this afternoon at the library. Mahjong for Beginners is held every Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the library and is a great opportunity for adults to learn something new!

Summer Reading Week 5 is officially in the books following our visit from The Music & Mindfulness Initiative this morning. Through interactive songs and puppets, we all learned a lot about feelings and emotions as we sang, danced, and even got to bring some puppets to life!

Between now and next week’s wrap up party, be sure to complete your reading log by reading 20 minutes a day for at least 5 days in order to receive either a free book or an item from the prize box one last time. If you’re not quite reading on your own yet, reading with a parent/guardian or being read to also counts!

Don’t forget, this will be the final week to complete your Summer Reading Bingo card as well as your reading log and the last time you’ll be able to put your name in to possibly win a tablet or one of the larger mystery prizes. We hope to see everyone next Wednesday (8/14) for our wrap up party where we’ll be picking the lucky winners and celebrating all the adventures we had and memories we made together this summer at the library!

Join us for Summer Reading Week 5 at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library. Tomorrow morning (8/7) we’ll be visited by The Music & Mindfulness Initiative along with their puppet friends for a spectacular show!

Just like previous weeks, registration/sign in will start at 9:30 AM and then the program will begin promptly at 10 AM. If you completed the reading log, please be sure to show it to us when checking in so that you can get a sticker for your log and the chance to enter our grand prize tablet raffle from which several lucky winners will be drawn at the end of our time together next week.

Following the show, everyone that completed their reading log for the week will be able to select a free book to add to their home library or something nifty from the prize box. We hope to see you all tomorrow morning for our next adventure together at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library!

Come check out the results of the Northumberland County Council For the Arts and Humanities trash can lid art contest that are now on display at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! Stop by the library and see the creative work of the 22 local artists that participated. Winners will be announced next Tuesday, August 13!

Some of our pinochle players in action earlier this afternoon. Pinochle Club is held every Monday from 1-3 PM at the library and is a great opportunity for adults to learn something new while out and about in the community!

This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we read “A Sea Voyage” which was a rhyming pop-up book about all the different kinds of boats out sailing the seas. Following our regular songs and getting to color boats of our own, we enjoyed a snack of homemade cookies in celebration of a special birthday!

Summer Reading Week 4 is now officially in the books following our visit from ZooAmerica. Yesterday morning we had the chance to see and learn about a variety of different animals with each one representing a different category within the larger animal kingdom. These included a snake, frog, falcon, and skunk!

Between now and next Wednesday morning’s puppet show, be sure to complete your reading log by reading 20 minutes a day for at least 5 days in order to receive either a free book or an item from the prize box next week. Each week you complete the log and bring it back to us, you’ll have the chance to enter your name to win an Amazon Fire tablet on the last day! Also continue working on your Summer Reading Bingo cards and be sure to show us your progress week to week.

Each time you get bingo, you’ll get to enter your name into a separate drawing for a grand mystery prize that we’ll also be giving away during our last session together. We hope to see everyone next week (8/7) for a spectacular puppet show!
