Holiday Hours

The Shamokin Coal Township Public Library will be closed on Saturday, December 23rd,  Monday, December 25th, and Tuesday, December 26th. The library will also be closed on Monday, January 1st. Thank you!

Adult Book Club

The Shamokin Coal Township Public Library hosts an adult book club on the second Monday of the month at 7 PM.

The future book selections for the book club are as follows:

  • January – The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
  • February – Origin by Dan Brown
  • March – The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See
  • April – Glory Over Everything – Kathleen Grissom

Lego Club

Lego Club is offered on the first and the third Monday of the month from 4PM to 5:30PM. The targeted age range is for 4 years old to 12 years old. Children of all ages are welcome to attend.

 

Young Adult Chess Club

There has been some interest to begin a young adult chess club here at the library. The age of the club would range from 10 to 17 years old. If there are interested young people, encourage them to come to the library to sign up. Times and dates have not been set at this time. The library will try their best to help organize a time for the young adults wanting to join this club.

Wifi

Our library now has wifi internet for our patrons to use. When you come to the library, you will connect under the wifi username shamokinlib-guest. The wifi password will be posted when you come inside.

Preschool Story Time and Movement

Our library is hosting Preschool Story Time and Movement each Monday at 10 AM. Children from ages 3 to 5 are welcome to attend and must be accompanied by an adult. We have story time, songs, and dancing. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Knitting and Crocheting Club

Like to knit or crochet?  Just started?  Have you been doing it for years?  Whether you are a beginner or an experienced knitter, come join the fun as we learn together.  The “Knitting and Crocheting Club” meets at the library every Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.  Participants will be responsible for bringing their own supplies.  Call the library at 648-3202 or Margie Witt at 648-5553 for more information.

       Give the Gift of Sight


Do you have unwanted glasses, frames or lenses?  You can donate them to the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Program by dropping them off at the Shamokin and Coal Township Public Library.  The eyeglasses are cleaned, classified by prescription and then distributed to those in need by Lion volunteers.  This program is sponsored in conjunction with the Shamokin Lions Club.

                 TAX FORMS AVAILABLE

Our library has an assortment of federal, state, and local tax forms available on a first come first served basis. Specialized IRS forms are available for photocopying at a nominal charge. Other tax related materials, forms, and information can also be found on the IRS website at www.irs.gov

Pennsylvania State forms and publications can be found at www.revenue.pa.gov Taxpayers requesting forms can also call toll free 1-800-362-2050 to the Pennsylvania Department of Revenues 24-hour automated answering service number.

BOOK SALE 

Our Library has an assortment of “gently used” materials for sale year round.  Fiction and nonfiction hardbound books are available for $ 0.25 a bag.
