This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we read “A Sea Voyage” which was a rhyming pop-up book about all the different kinds of boats out sailing the seas. Following our regular songs and getting to color boats of our own, we enjoyed a snack of homemade cookies in celebration of a special birthday! 
Some of our regular Mahjong players yesterday afternoon. Mahjong for Beginners is held every Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the library and is a great opportunity for adults to learn something new!
Summer Reading Week 4 is now officially in the books following our visit from ZooAmerica. Yesterday morning we had the chance to see and learn about a variety of different animals with each one representing a different category within the larger animal kingdom. These included a snake, frog, falcon, and skunk!
Between now and next Wednesday morning’s puppet show, be sure to complete your reading log by reading 20 minutes a day for at least 5 days in order to receive either a free book or an item from the prize box next week. If you’re not quite reading on your own yet, reading with a parent/guardian or being read to also counts!
Each week you complete the log and bring it back to us, you’ll have the chance to enter your name to win an Amazon Fire tablet on the last day! Also continue working on your Summer Reading Bingo cards and be sure to show us your progress week to week.
Each time you get bingo, you’ll get to enter your name into a separate drawing for a grand mystery prize that we’ll also be giving away during our last session together. We hope to see everyone next week (8/7) for a spectacular puppet show!
Keep up to date with everything happening at your local library this August and beyond! Event calendars are readily available every month at the front desk along with handouts that include additional information about upcoming programs for children, adults, or the whole family.
Join us for Summer Reading Week 4 at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! Tomorrow morning (7/31) ZooAmerica will be visiting us from Hershey, PA along with several animal pals that we’ll get to see and learn all about.
Just like previous weeks, registration/check-in will start at 9:30 AM and then the program will begin promptly at 10 AM. If you completed the reading log, please be sure to show it to us when checking in so that you can get a sticker for your log and the chance to enter our grand prize tablet raffle from which several lucky winners will be drawn at the end of our time together in a couple weeks.
Following our ZooAmerica visit, everyone that completed their reading for the week will be able to select a free book to add to their home library or something nifty from the prize box. We hope to see you all tomorrow morning for our next adventure together at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library!

It’s all aboard for “Exploration Station” Family STEM Night tomorrow evening (7/30) anytime from 5-7 PM! Magna-Tiles, marble runs, strategy games, and many other exciting additions to our growing collection of educational and entertaining activities will be waiting for you at the library!
This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we read a nonfiction book titled “Slinky, Scaly Snakes!” which told us all about what different snakes can look like, where they may live, and how they move around in such a unique way. After our regular songs we sat down to craft some paper chain snakes, many of which turned out very colorful!
