“Rooted” Treasures of Our Area

So, what all can you do with a dandelion? Turns out, quite a bit! Thursday evening Shamokin’s Environmental Resiliency Plan group held their last “resiliency workshop” at the library. Led by Michele Stansberry of Shamokin’s Foraging Friends, all who attended got to learn more about the wild plants native to our area and how they can be used.

To cap off the program and truly get a taste of the possibilities, Michele whipped up some delicious dandelion pizza and dandelion coffee for everyone!

Ryan Bridge “The BugMan” Visits Library

We had a blast with Ryan Bridge “The BugMan” yesterday afternoon at the library! Ryan brings with him a large collection of preserved insects and arachnids as well as several live specimens that everyone got the chance to hold. A big thank you to “The BugMan” for entertaining and educating everyone with your passion for all things bugs! 🦋🕷🐞

Book Bingo at the Library

We hope everyone had a great time at Book Bingo this evening! All are welcome to join us later this month on Thursday, June 20 at 6 PM for bingo, books, and a delightful evening that family and friends can all come and enjoy together.

Similar to last summer, Book Bingo will not be held in July or August so next time is your last chance until the fall!

Preschool Storytime & Movement

This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we read “The Big Storm: A Very Soggy Counting Book” which was all about knowing your numbers one through ten both forwards and backwards! Following song time and a bit of coloring, we wrapped up the morning with a tasty snack.

After not getting to see Mrs. Sickora over the last couple of weeks, we were so happy to have her back in action this morning with all of us at the library! ❤️⭐️🥰

Fairy Garden Kid’s Craft Coming Up

Just like in previous years, the library will be partnering with the Northumberland County Council For The Arts and Humanities for a “Fairy Garden” kid’s craft! This event will be held offsite at Claude Kehler Community Park in Shamokin on Wednesday, June 12 at 10 AM within the main pavilion area.

This is of course a free event but children absolutely MUST be signed up ahead of time, no exceptions. This magical morning for children ages 3-10 only has room for 25 so be sure to reserve your spot while there’s still time! To sign up you can either stop by the library, give us a call, or send an email to the address provided.
