Free passes for the whole family to Bloomsburg Children’s Museum are available at your local library!

Passes are valid for general admission only and do not cover special events/programs, classes, or workshops hosted at the museum. These passes can be checked out for 1 week and then are to be promptly returned to the library just like you’d check out and return a book. Please be sure to return the passes in a timely manner so that as many families as possible can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to play, learn, and discover together!

Looking to research your family history? Shamokin-Coal Township Public library is just the place to go! Our library offers free public access to the Ancestry Library Edition online database. This means that thousands of records pertaining to births, deaths, marriages, census data, and so much more can be easily retrieved with just a few simple steps!

As a reminder, Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be closed tomorrow (5/25) but we encourage everyone to visit our booth at the Anthracite Heritage Festival anytime from 10 AM-5 PM on Market Street in Shamokin. Children will have the chance to make a puppet, put on a show, and then keep their puppet as a souvenir all courtesy of the library!

Additionally, the library will be closed this coming Monday (5/27) in observance of Memorial Day. As always, keep an eye out for upcoming regular and special events for children, adults, and families scheduled for next month and all summer long!

Following the holiday weekend, it’s all aboard for “Exploration Station” Family STEM Night this Tuesday (5/28) anytime from 5-7 PM. Magna-Tiles, marble runs, and many other exciting additions to our growing collection of educational and entertaining activities will be waiting for you at the library!

Join us at the library this evening anytime from 5-6:30 PM for LEGO Club. As the library supplies an ample amount of LEGOs for everyone to build and create with, all you need to bring with you is your imagination!

Some of our regular Mahjong players yesterday afternoon! Mahjong for Beginners is held every Wednesday from 1-3 PM at the library and is a great opportunity to learn something new.

Yesterday evening at the library everyone got to build derby cars and then make alterations after each race in order to increase the speed! Through the lesson and the project, we learned about weight distribution and got to test out different approaches in real time and evaluate the results.

Don’t forget that tomorrow (5/21) at 6 PM Bloomsburg Children’s Museum will be visiting us with the next STEM project. This month’s program is bound to be extra exciting as we’ll be designing and racing derby cars down a 40 foot track!
