We have a new addition to the weekly library happenings. Are you interested in learning a new game? Want to come and have some midweek fun? Join us next Wednesday at 1:00 upstairs to learn the American version of the ancient game of Mahjong. Sign up is a must and this is an adult only event.

Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be closed today. We will reopen tomorrow at 9:30 AM.

Just a reminder that tomorrow (1/16) at 6 PM is our monthly STEM program visit from Bloomsburg Children’s Museum. This month we’ll be learning about the phases of the moon, crater formation, and then will be making some glow in the dark puffy paint to wrap up the lesson!
To sign up for this free and educational event that’s designed with ages 6-13 in mind, you can visit us at the library or contact us at 570-648-3202 or shamokincoallibrary@gmail.com. Since making the puffy paint could possibly get a little messy, we recommend wearing old clothing just in case!

This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we had to relocate from our normal meeting spot to a bigger space in order to fit everyone! After reading “Little Blue Truck’s Valentine” and singing our songs, off we went to the big tables to color our very own little blue trucks to take home. With schools not having class today, we enjoyed getting to see lots of our old Monday morning pals again!

On Saturday at the library we had lots of fun together painting snowflakes on canvas! With varying mixtures of white and blue paint along with a healthy amount of glitter, each snowflake creation took on its own unique shape and design. As always, a very big thank you goes to our partners at the NCCA for helping us make recurring programs like this possible!

We had a lively group last night at the library of familiar friends along with some new faces we’ll hopefully see again at LEGO Club. Catch us again for another Thursday evening of creativity and fun later this month (1/25) anytime from 5-7 PM upstairs at the library!

Bundle up and head on down to the library later tomorrow (1/11) anytime from 5-7 PM for LEGO Club. As the library provides lots of LEGOs for everyone to discover and build with throughout the evening, all you need to bring with you is your imagination and creativity!

Yesterday evening at the library we held our first adult craft of the new year! The project we worked on last night was a heart themed wall hanging that’s sure to fit cozily alongside any other items of Valentine’s Day décor you may already have on tap for next month.
As always, a big thank you goes to our partners at the Northumberland County Council for the Arts for helping us bring programs like this to life for the community!
