Preschool Storytime & Movement

At this week’s Preschool Storytime and Movement, we read, “The Magic of Me: My Magical Words.” We learned about positive affirmations we can tell ourselves….I am creative, I am beautiful, I am kind, I am loved are just a few. Then we sang and moved to our favorite songs and made pictures of what we like about ourselves….Come join us on Monday’s at 10am!

We Love You, Ben!

Our Library Director, Ben Shemory, is ending this chapter in his story at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library. He has been with us for over 3 years and we have enjoyed working with him! We have all worked well together to create and maintain many new programs. While we are all sad to see him go, we want to wish him well with the next chapter in his life. Come join us on Saturday, November 30, 10am-1pm, to wish our boss the best!
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, BEN!
YOU’RE THE BEST!

‘Tis the Season

We’re just about set for the holiday season here at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! Be sure to stop by at some point over the coming weeks and enjoy the festive atmosphere that can be found both inside and outside of our building.

A very special thank you goes to our dedicated staff members for decorating the library so beautifully and lovingly each year and truly bringing the yuletide spirit to life for our patrons across the community! Though these days shall grow colder, the warmth in our hearts burns so bright. 🎅🔥💝

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town!

Santa Claus is scheduled to touch down on East Independence Street in Shamokin just one week from today! On Saturday, November 30 from 10AM-12PM, everyone will have the chance to meet Santa, take some pictures with him, and even chat for a wee bit!

In addition to getting to catch up with Santa, a holiday children’s craft will be available onsite for the little ones during what’s typically a very festive morning at the library. Mark your calendars, ponder what you’ll say to Santa, and be sure to stop by for a visit next Saturday at the library! 💝🎅🎁

Thanksgiving Book Bingo!

We had a bountiful harvest of players make the pilgrimage to the library earlier this evening for Thanksgiving Book Bingo! As with most ‘special edition’ holiday bingo nights, the evening included themed mystery prizes and even featured a truly larger than life turkey to oversee the proceedings.

We are so very thankful that programs like this have caught on with the community and steadily grown into evenings where an entire cornucopia of kids, adults, and families all feel welcomed to come and enjoy themselves together at the library! 🦃❤️🦃

“A Day at the Races”

Yesterday evening at the library everyone got to build a derby car to race and then make alterations on after each run down the track in order to reach maximum speed! Through this lesson and its accompanying project, we learned a little about aerodynamics and quite a bit about weight distribution.

As always, thank you to Bloomsburg Children’s Museum for helping us bring exciting educational programs like this into the community! 🏎🏁🏎
