Raise the Region 2024

Don’t forget that Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be participating in this year’s annual “Raise the Region” online giving campaign that kicks off this evening!

Raise the Region 2024 officially begins later today at 6:00 PM and ends at 11:59 PM on March 14. For a donation to be counted, it must be made through www.raisetheregion.org during the 30 hour giving period. There is a $25 minimum amount but no maximum amount for donations.

Your contribution greatly helps local organizations like the library in creating a more vibrant and engaging community space that welcomes all!

STEM Program Next Week

Join us next week on Tuesday, March 19 at 6 PM for this month’s STEM program brought to us by Bloomsburg Children’s Museum. This time around we’ll be building stomp rockets out of PVC piping so be prepared to blast off!

With a Little Luck

This morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement we read “The Luckiest St. Patrick’s Day Ever!” before singing our regular songs. After that, everyone got to decorate a shamrock and we wrapped up our time together by enjoying some green frosted treats!

Raise the Region 2024 Next Week

Remember that next week the library will be participating in this year’s annual “Raise the Region” online giving campaign! This gives members of our community the opportunity to support local nonprofits by helping them raise as much money as possible during a small window of time.

Thank You Tiny Tech!

Thank you to everyone at Tiny Tech Preschool for inviting us into your classroom for a special visit this week!

Since it was just his birthday recently, we read “The Foot Book” by Dr. Seuss followed by some songs and the chance make our own wild pairs of feet. Once again, thank you to the folks at Tiny Tech for having us and we hope to see you all again!

Mahjong for Beginners

In search of something stimulating that also gets you out and about in the community? Mahjong for Beginners meets Wednesday afternoons from 1-3 PM and is a great way to pick up a fresh hobby and meet new people at the library.

Bright & Festive

Every year as holidays come and go and the seasons pass by, our wonderful staff always has our library looking bright and festive for whatever the occasion may be!

Stay informed and up to date with everything going on at the library this March by grabbing yourself one of our monthly events calendars and by following us on our website, Facebook, or Instagram where you’ll receive additional information about everything we have going on.

If you have any young reader rabbits at home, don’t forget that the library’s Egg Hunt is coming up very soon on Saturday, March 16 starting at 10 AM!

Soup Wars to Benefit Library

Soup Wars will be held again this year to benefit Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! This time around the soup and soupie contest will be held at Wayside Inn Sports Bar on Saturday, March 23 with all registration beginning at 10 AM.

Soups can be registered from 10AM-12PM, must be at least 1 gallon of soup, no chili, judging will begin at 1 PM, and the top 3 soups will be awarded. Soup sales will begin immediately after judging!

Soupies can be registered from 10AM-3PM, must be sliced, judging will start at 3:30 PM with the top 3 being awarded, and sales will begin after judging.

Soup/soupie sponsors are welcomed and may fall into golden ($100), silver ($50), or bronze ($25) ladle categories. Even if you choose not to sponsor, donations are always greatly appreciated! All Soup Wars info plus sponsor/donation forms can be picked up at the library.
