Just a reminder that the first Book Bingo of March is tomorrow evening (3/5) at 6 PM upstairs at the library. Even if you don’t win any rounds, you’ll still be able to pick out a book of your choice to take home!

Preschool Storytime & Movement was extra special this morning thanks to a visit from Ms. KymBre and the Dr. Suess themed yoga session she put together for us! Following Suess yoga and a story, we switched gears and began working on a Cat in the Hat craft before eventually enjoying a snack as our time together came to a close. Overall, a great way to celebrate Read Across America Week and also lots of fun!

Healing Chair Yoga sessions lead by instructor KymBre Shingara are set to continue at the library with dates available through March and new dates coming soon! Classes are held on Monday afternoons from 4:15-5:15 PM at a cost of $10 per class. All adults and abilities welcome!

The library’s third annual Egg Hunt is now only 2 weeks away! This event will be held Saturday, March 16 starting at 10 AM on the second floor of the library. Like in previous years, the kids will be split into two groups (ages 2-5 or grades K-3) in order to keep things fair. There’s no need to sign up for this event, simply bring your basket/bag and be ready to hunt.
And as an extra special added bonus this year, Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny will be in attendance and I’m sure will want to visit with all the little bunnies! 🐰🥕🥚🧺

Thank you so, so much to the very thoughtful group of students and teachers at Shamokin Head Start that made us this banner after we stopped by to share some stories, songs, and crafts with everyone earlier in the week. We hope to see you all again soon!

Congratulations to Marg Schroyer as the lucky winner of the library’s “Rate Your Date” gift card drawing! Please stop by the library sometime this week to collect your prize winnings. Additionally, thank you to all of our patrons that participated throughout February and best of luck next year!

Wishing everyone a happy Read Across America Day and of course a very merry Read Across America Week. Whether you’re someone that visits our library all the time or it’s been years since you last stopped in, drop by Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library and discover everything we have to offer!

Do you know what makes tomorrow a special day? March 2 highlights the birthday of Dr. Seuss and is when we celebrate National Read Across America Day every year! And the best part is, tomorrow is only the first day of Read Across America Week which runs through March 6.
The National Education Association first launched Read Across America in 1998 as a year-round program to celebrate reading. Given Dr. Seuss’ impact on the reading world and his work’s lasting influence, his birthday (March 2) was declared Read Across America Day. This also commences Read Across America Week and Read Across America Month!

The library will be participating in this year’s annual “Raise the Region” online giving campaign! This gives members of our community the opportunity to support local nonprofits by helping them raise as much money as possible during a small window of time. Donations from this strategic and unified effort will support our local nonprofits in addressing the diverse needs of our region.
Raise the Region 2024 will officially begin on Wednesday, March 13 at 6:00 PM and end at 11:59 PM on March 14. For a donation to be counted, it must be made through http://www.raisetheregion.org during the 30 hour giving period. There is a $25 minimum amount but no maximum amount for donations. Your contribution greatly helps local organizations like the library in creating a more vibrant and engaging community space that welcomes all!
