This past Saturday the library hosted Santa and everyone got the chance to chat with him and even got a souvenir picture with Santa to take home! We would like to thank Santa for visiting along with our partners at the NCCA for helping out with the craft that was also available. We hope everyone had a jolly good time!

Starting this coming Thursday, the library will be hosting an evening of STEM activities that will be available anytime from 5-7 PM! Stimulating activities for those on the younger side as well as those who are a bit older will be available at this new event set to take place once a month going forward. There’s no need to sign up for this free family event, simply meet us on the second floor of the library later this week!

Join us at the library tomorrow on Tuesday, November 28 from 5-7 PM for a special author visit and book signing! Author Harry Deitz, Jr. will be discussing his recent book “Gentleman Jake: The Success and Tragedy of the Deadball Era’s Greatest First Baseman” which focuses on the professional baseball career of Shamokin native Jake Daubert. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the signing for all those interested!

Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be closed tomorrow for Thanksgiving along with Friday. From all of us here at the library, may everyone have a very happy Thanksgiving holiday! We are so thankful for our patrons, our community, and all those who have given their time and talents in making this a wonderful year for our library.
We’ll be back open Saturday morning with a visit from Santa and a children’s craft from 10AM-12PM!

Yesterday evening we had the chance to learn all about the practice of soldering and even got to solder together our own fully functional flashlights to take home. When not at the soldering station, we had snap circuits kits up and running as well with lots of different design options to choose from. As always, thank you to Bloomsburg Children’s Museum for helping us bring educational programs like this into the community!

Don’t forget that Santa will soon be firing up his trusty sleigh and making the trek southward to visit all of us at the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library!
Santa will be touching down on East Independence Street this coming Saturday, November 25 and will be at the library from 10AM-12PM. A beaded holiday children’s craft will also be available with help from our friends at the NCCA. Mark your calendars, make your lists, and be sure to stop by for a visit with Santa at the library!

Don’t forget that our monthly STEM program presented by Bloomsburg Children’s Museum will be held at the library tomorrow evening at 6 PM! This month we’ll be learning all about soldering, why/how it’s used, and the important role the practice plays across various disciplines.
To sign up for this free event targeted towards ages 6-13, you can sign up at the library, give us a call at 570-648-3202, or email us at shamokincoallibrary@gmail.com.
