We had a splendid Victorian tea party at the library yesterday evening that featured a variety of goodies on the menu. The evening also included a talk from Amanda Krebs that focused on the many notable and influential women from Shamokin during the time period. Thank you to our partners at the NCCA for helping make events like this possible!

Join us at the library next Tuesday, November 21 at 6 PM for our monthly STEM programming event presented by Bloomsburg Children’s Museum. At this month’s event, we’ll be learning all about soldering, why/how it’s used, and the important role the practice plays across various disciplines.
To sign up for this free event targeted to ages 6-13, you can sign up at the library, give us a call at 570-648-3202, or email us at shamokincoallibrary@gmail.com.

We had a nice big group this morning at Preschool Storytime & Movement full of both new and familiar faces! After reading “Llama Llama Gives Thanks” and singing our songs, we trotted over to the crafting area where everyone got to make a turkey hat (complete with feathers) to wear this Thanksgiving season. Check out some of these little turkeys!

Thank you to everyone in and around the Shamokin/Coal Township area that donated Halloween costumes this morning. In just a few short hours, hundreds of costumes were collected that will be given away next year ensuring everyone gets the chance to celebrate in style!
Thank you again to Lauren Zimmerman and Maria James for putting together this amazing event!

Don’t forget that new/gently used Halloween costume donations can be dropped off at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library this morning and will be given away to students in need of a costume come next fall.
A huge thank you goes to Maria James and Lauren Zimmerman for organizing this wonderful effort!

Not long after carving the turkey and sitting down to share a hearty Thanksgiving feast with Mrs. Clause and the elf squad up at the North Pole, Santa will be making the trek southward to visit us at the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library!
Santa will be visiting the library next Saturday, November 25 from 10AM-12PM and a beaded holiday children’s craft will also be available onsite with help from our friends at the NCCA. Mark your calendars, make your lists, and be sure to stop by for a visit with Santa next Saturday at the library!

We had a great group full of creativity and imagination yesterday evening at LEGO Club! Since the library will be closed next Thursday for Thanksgiving, the final two dates for LEGO Club in 2023 will be December 14 & 28 from 5-7 PM. We hope to see everyone next month and beyond!

As a reminder, your child’s Halloween costume now has another chance to be worn and loved all over again next year! Please consider donating new or gently used costumes so that as many children as possible throughout our community can have the chance to dress up next year.
