Thank you to Samantha Zlotorzynski and the Penn State Extension organization for bringing the “Introduction to Preserving” workshop to our library and community! Those that attended were provided with the latest science and best practices on safe canning, freezing, and drying. This workshop was a wonderful source of food safety tips and a fine introduction to preserving nutritious and delicious food.
Volunteers from M&T Bank will be giving 2 separate free presentations throughout the month of June covering ideal methods and best practices for keeping your identity/personal information secure. The first of these presentations is this coming Tuesday (June 7th) at 2 PM!
Don’t forget that there’s still time to purchase chances to win the library’s 50/50 raffle or the Bucket-O-Lotto. We will be drawing the winners at 5 PM later today!
Tickets for either raffle are $1 each or 6 for $5.
The Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library, its employees, and its Board of Directors send our sincerest thanks to Jeanne Shaffer and the NCCAH for inviting the library to participate in this year’s Anthracite Heritage Festival of the Arts. Taking part in this community wide event granted us the opportunity to further inform the public about the library and everything it has to offer local residents as we strive towards a more informed, educated, and connected community. Our organization greatly looks forward to attending this annual event for years to come!
Additionally, we will be pulling the winners for the two raffles from this past weekend on Tuesday, May 31st at 5 PM. This means that there’s still plenty of time to purchase chances starting this Tuesday when the library opens at 12 PM!
Summer Reading 2022 at the Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library is right around the corner! Kicking off July 6th at 10 AM and held every Wednesday morning through August 10th, the library’s annual Summer Reading festivities are a surefire way to keep your child’s reading skills in excellent shape while school is out. And of course, Summer Reading is also a whole lot of fun with exciting, entertaining, and educational content provided every week of the program’s 6 week duration.
Although our target age range for Summer Reading is K-6, younger siblings and older siblings as well as parents and grandparents are all certainly welcome to join in the fun. The theme this year is “Oceans of Possibilities” so together we will be exploring the depths of the deep blue sea and setting sail for exhilarating destinations that are sure to enrich youthful minds and bolster a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Listed below are the scheduled events for each week of Summer Reading 2022. In the meantime, dive into a good book and we’ll see you all in July!
A big thank you to everyone that visited the library’s booth yesterday at the festival! Countless children were able to make and take home patriotic bracelets and the library was able to do some fundraising thanks to the public’s generosity in buying chances to win our 50/50 raffle and/or Bucket-O-Lotto which is packed full of scratchers and gift cards to restaurants around town. We’ll see you all next year!
The winners of the 50/50 raffle and Bucket-O-Lotto will be drawn Tuesday afternoon so the very best of luck to all those who purchased chances to win!
The Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be closed tomorrow (5/28) and Monday (5/30) in observance of Memorial Day.
