We look forward to continuing to serve the community’s educational, recreational, and cultural needs in our quest to support lifelong learning and enrichment for all those who walk through our doors. It’s our honor to provide the best possible materials and services that we can as we close one year, start anew, and find out where our story together will take us in 2022!

This means that thousands of records including births/deaths, marriages, census data, and so much more can be easily retrieved with just a few simple steps. Find out more about your family tree by searching Ancestry Library, a public library version of the popular Ancestry.com that includes access to over 2 billion names and thousands of genealogical databases!

Holiday Cheer at the Library!

Check out our festive holiday decorations placed all throughout the library! We would also like to thank Lisa Eccker for her lovely paintings in the front windows that will undoubtedly spread cheer to all those who pass by. Also included here are some snapshots of our latest Preschool Storytime & Movement program where we read a book about snowmen, sang songs about the jingling bells on Santa’s sleigh, and even crafted some friendly snowmen for everyone to take home!

Library is Open!

The Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will resume regular hours today. Due to the amount of time that has elapsed since the facility was exposed to a case of COVID-19 along with the deep cleaning that was carried out yesterday, we feel confident in resuming normal operations. For the next 14 days, however, library staff will all be masked when interacting with the public to ensure the safety of all those who walk through our door.

Library Temporarily Closed Due to COVID-19 Exposure

It has come to our attention that the library was exposed to COVID-19 earlier this week. There is a possibility that you were exposed if you visited recently. The library will be closed to the public for at least the remainder of today (12/9) in order for a deep cleaning of the facility to take place. Thank you for your understanding. Updates will follow as the situation evolves.

The Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library will be closed to the public for at least the remainder of today (Thursday, December 9th).
