STEM Programming at the Library

Bloomsburg Children’s Museum will be visiting our library again later this month! (9/27 @ 6 PM)

The next featured class is “Intro to Laser Cutting and Engraving” where students (ages 6-13) will learn how to use the library’s laser cutter and engraver. In this class you will learn how the Glowforge machine works and where to find designs from online sources. Additionally, students will also get a chance to make a small plaque to keep.

Sign up either at the library or by giving us a call at 570-648-3202.

Fall Children’s Craft Recap

We hope that everyone that attended the library’s fall children’s craft this morning had a wonderful time and were able to take home some memorable keepsakes to enjoy throughout the coming season!

A special thanks goes to the Northumberland County Council for the Arts & Humanities for partnering with us for this event.

Harry Deitz, Jr. Book Signing

The library will be hosting local author Harry Deitz, Jr. for a book signing next Saturday (9/17) at 11 AM.

His recent publication, “Covey: A Stone’s Throw from a Coal Mine to the Hall of Fame”, examines the life of Shamokin native Stan Coveleski and charts one man’s journey from working as a breaker boy in the coal mines to pitching for several major league baseball teams throughout his storied career.

Copies of the book will be available at the library for $21.25

Genealogy Workshop This Month

Are you curious about your ancestral roots but aren’t quite sure how to get started? If so, join us at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library on September 20th at 6 PM for a Genealogy Workshop.

The library will be hosting Louise Latshaw and John Lindermuth of the Northumberland County Historical Society for this event. This team will be providing those attending with tips/best practices for discovering and documenting your family’s past.

To sign up for this free event please visit us at the library or call 570-648-3202.
