Join us for Summer Reading Week 2 at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! This week we will be hosting ZooAmerica who are coming to us from Hershey, PA with their educational and entertaining “Paws, Claws, Scales, & Tails” program.

Just like last week, registration/check-in will start at 9:30 AM and then the program will begin promptly at 10 AM. If you completed the reading log, please be sure to show it to us when signing in so that you can get a sticker for the week and the chance to enter our grand prize raffle from which several lucky winners will be drawn at the end of our time together this summer.

Following the ZooAmerica program and a snack, all those that completed their logs will get to select a free book for their home library or something from the prize box. We hope to see you all tomorrow morning!

We had quite the full house at Preschool Storytime & Movement yesterday morning! After brushing up on our numbers (1-10) by reading “The Big Storm: A Very Soggy Counting Book” we then got to color/decorate two landscapes, one side with a thunderstorm and the other side with a beautiful sunny day featuring a rainbow just like at the end of the book.

Preschool Storytime & Movement is held at the library every Monday at 10 AM!

Stay calm and centered even in the summer heat by joining us for Heart & Soul Chair Yoga with instructor KymBre Shingara. Held on Monday mornings at the library all through July, sessions run from 8:15-9:00 AM with doors opening at 8:00 AM.

We would like to thank Dorothy Sherman for her recent donation of this Fisher-Price playset to the library. This generous gift will most certainly be enjoyed by our younger patrons for many years to come!

Join us one week from today (7/15) at 10 AM for our next children’s craft! This month we will be making jellyfish mobiles that will fit right in with beach season. As this craft does involve paint, please be sure to dress accordingly! To sign up for this free event, either give us a call or email us at shamokincoallibrary@gmail.com.

Summer Reading Week 1 was a blast! To kick things off this year, we welcomed back KymBre Shingara to lead us in kids yoga, got our reading logs and goody bags, and wrapped things up with a tasty cupcake treat.

Between now and next Wednesday morning’s ZooAmerica program, be sure to complete your reading log by reading 20 minutes a day for at least 5 days in order to receive either a free book or an item from the prize box. If you’re not quite reading on your own yet, reading with a parent or being read to also counts!

Each week you complete the log and bring it back to us, you’ll have the chance to enter your name into our grand prize drawing that will take place during our final Summer Reading session in August. We hope to see everyone next week (7/12) for ZooAmerica!

We’re all ready for the holiday here at the library! With our book this morning being “Red, White, and Boom!” and our crafted patriotic hats it looks like we’re all set to go for Independence Day.

We will be CLOSED tomorrow (July 4) for Independence Day. And don’t forget that Summer Reading kicks off this Wednesday (7/5) with registration beginning at 9:30 AM and the program starting at 10!
