Building Great Readers

We had a splendid time this morning at Summer Reading! This week was our STEM Day where everyone had the chance to build and create together. We hope to see everyone next week for our Summer Reading wrap-up party to celebrate all of our young readers!

Summer Reading Week 5: STEM Day

Join us for Summer Reading Week 5 at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! This week we will be having a STEM Day where there will be a wide variety of activities for all ages introducing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts through games, tinkering kits, puzzles, and more!

If you completed the reading log for this week, please be sure to show it to us when signing in so that you can receive a sticker for your log and the chance to enter your name into our grand prize drawing that will take place next week. This year we will be giving away Amazon Fire 8 tablets to six lucky readers that completed their logs week to week throughout the summer!

Monday Mornings at the Library

There was definitely something fishy at Preschool Storytime & Movement this morning thanks to the book we read about a fish learning to embrace his uniquely patterned scales which often set him apart from the crowd. After listening to the story and singing our songs, everyone then got to design a uniquely patterned fish of their own to take home. We hope to see everyone again next week!

Heart & Soul Chair Yoga

Stay calm and centered in the summer heat and humidity by joining us for one final Heart & Soul Chair Yoga session with instructor KymBre Shingara. This class will run from 8:15-9:00 AM with doors opening at 8:00 AM.
Classes are $7 a piece. To sign up, you can either visit us at the library, give us a call at 570-648-3202, or email us at shamokincoallibrary@gmail.com. All adults and abilities are welcome!

“The Bug Man” Visits the Library

This week Summer Reading continued with a visit from Ryan Bridge “The Bug Man” accompanied as always by his vast collection of living and preserved specimens. After getting to learn all about different members of the insect world, those brave and daring enough had the chance to hold a variety of creatures including spiders and caterpillars!

A Crafty Time at the Library

Check out these lovely flower pocket décor pieces fashioned this week by a group of very talented and creative local ladies! As always, we would like to thank the Northumberland County Council for the Arts for partnering with us to make events like this possible. Be sure to keep an eye out for postings concerning upcoming events at your local library!

Summer Reading Week 4: Ryan “The Bug Man” Bridge

Join us for Summer Reading Week 4 at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library! This week we will be hosting Ryan “The Bug Man” Bridge and his sprawling collection of species both living and preserved.

Just like previous weeks, registration/check-in will start at 9:30 AM and then the program will begin promptly at 10 AM. If you completed the reading log, please be sure to show it to us when signing in so that you can get a sticker for your log and the chance to enter our grand prize raffle from which several lucky winners will be drawn at the end of our time together this summer.

Following the bug out and a snack, all those that completed their reading for the week will be able to select a free book for their home library or something from the prize box. We hope to see you all tomorrow morning!

You & Your Library

We got our very first library cards! Never forget that instant access to worlds of information are readily available at the library or online through the Axis 360 platform that’s included with your membership.

Signing up for a library card is easier than ever before! So long as an individual is at least 3 years of age and is a resident of Northumberland County, the only other things required are two forms of identification and a parent/guardian for those under 18.

We hope to see you soon!
