STEM Programming at the Library

We would like to thank the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum for visiting our library yesterday evening and helping us introduce students to the world of 3D printing!

Be sure to keep an eye out for postings regarding the next STEM program in this series that will be held at the library towards the end of September.

STEM Program Reminder

**REMINDER** For almost the entire rest of the year, Bloomsburg Children’s Museum will be visiting our library once a month for some imaginative and exciting STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) programs! The upcoming program entitled “Intro to 3D Modeling and Printing” will be held this Tuesday (8/23) at 6 PM. The targeted age range for this event is 7 to 15. While these are free events, we do ask that children are signed up ahead of time as only 20 slots are available each time.

Our next STEM program is “Intro to 3D Modeling and Printing” and will utilize the library’s very own onsite 3D printer. Students will design a personalized 3D-printed key chain. This class will give the students a design tutorial of Tinkercad software, which will provide them with the necessary skills to create their own projects in the future. The lesson begins with a presentation about 3D printers and how they work followed by students having time to design their very own keepsake!

Adult Fall Craft Coming Up

In partnership with the Northumberland County Council for the Arts & Humanities, the library will be hosting an adult fall craft at the end of the month. The final product from this craft will be a fashionable piece of fall décor made from festive pumpkins placed on a weathered board that will undoubtedly signal the autumn season will soon be arriving. This adult crafting event will be held August 30th (Tuesday) at 5 PM and requires a $5 donation to the library to cover material costs. Class size is limited to 15 so register soon before it’s too late!

Summer Reading 2022 Final Week

Our Summer Reading “Oceans of Possibilities” program series has come to an end but we hope to see everyone back next year! The party this morning included of lots of yummy snacks, a balloon artist, an ice cream sundae bar, and a goodie bag of treats along with a free book for everyone to take home. Additionally, 3 lucky readers that completed their reading logs each week were selected as the winners of our Kindle Fire tablet raffle. Above all though, we would like to commend everyone who did their reading and filled out their reading logs this summer!

Remember, just because Summer Reading has come to an end doesn’t mean that coming to the library on a regular basis should too. We have lots of events all throughout the year including LEGO Club, STEM programming, adult book club, special events for holidays, crafts for both children and adults, Preschool Storytime & Movement, Book Bingo, and so much more! Stay up to date on everything happening at the library by following us on social media, The News-Item, and event calendars that are readily available at the front desk.
